Climate Change and Sustainability

• Wrote the business plan and developed the budget for the Seattle Climate Partnership.
• Co-created a carbon inventory tool for the City of Seattle and Seattle Climate Partnership based upon the Greenhouse Gas Protocol of the World Resource Institute (WRI).
• Recently led two Seattle service based businesses through the carbon inventory process. This allowed both companies to understand and appropriately address their climate impacts and implement immediate and long-term strategies for success.
• Established industry leading due diligence and screening criteria for a renewable energy projects in the solar, wind, and low-impact hydro industries.
• Created and delivered workshops highlighting the business case for proactively addressing carbon emissions within businesses.
• Wrote Chinese renewable energy and eco-city development reports for a Seattle-based firm working in China.

Clean Technology

• Delivered expert business advisory services and financial forecasts for two Puget Sound alternative energy start-ups.
• Co-authored “Clean Technology. The Answer to Washington’s Carbon Constrained Future.” This report outlined economic development, job growth, fuel saving, and greenhouse gas reduction (GhG) opportunities for the State around clean technology.
• Developed a report of clean technology and GhG reduction incentives and regulations comparing Washington to its neighboring states (California, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana).
• Co-created a master list of Washington’s clean technology companies.
• Wrote the business case for the clean energy industry in the WA State. A special report “WA State Clean Energy Summary 2006.”

Financial

• Performed total company financial analysis and identified several hundred thousand dollars of cost savings for a leading NW non-profit using sustainable business practices.
• Turned an eco-tourism company into a highly profitable organization, by focusing on its core clients and enhancing its environmental practices.
• Performed a full financial analysis and developed the strategic plan for a WA state land conservancy.
• Improved a Seattle environmental education firm’s profitability through activity-based-costing. Aligned the firm’s values to its policies, operations, and financials.

Strategic / Business Planning

• Co-developed a market penetration strategy for a $500 million life sciences firm
• Facilitated an enhanced client development plan for a Seattle based socially responsible investment(SRI) firm
• Wrote the financial and business plan for a Seattle network of consultants focused on sustainability.
• Incorporated green building into the business and financial plans of a new Seattle architecture and design firm
• Created strategic alliances for an on-line Life Sciences incubator that worked with three major Michigan Universities and over 100 service providers in 14 different industries throughout the State of Michigan.
