Our
goal is to make Puget Sound the world leader in Sustainability.
Therefore every day our company and its employees commit to enhancing
the community in which we live through our work, volunteerism,
and charitable giving.
Our
People in the Community
Sustainable Business Consulting employees have donated more than 1,000
hours in the Puget Sound community over the
past two years. Currently, SBC
President serves as an advisor to the Corporate Climate Protection Agreement,
the Center
for Sustainable Business, the Ethics Center of the Bainbridge Graduate Institute,
and is on the Sustainable Committee of the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce.
Not only are employees encouraged to get involved within the community, but are
actually
paid for up to 50 hours
of volunteer work in the community each year. Additionally,
the company will pay for employees to participate in up to
two charitable races or triathlons each calendar year.
Putting
Our Money Where Our Mouth is
We realize that some of the most important work in the
field of sustainability is happening through the non-profit
sector
and our academic institutions. Therefore, SBC is committed
to supporting these efforts and donates 10% of its net profit
each year to local NGOs. In 2007, SBC
has
earmarked 1% of net profit to both Sustainable
Seattle and
Earth Share of
Washington, and 5% to the Bainbridge
Graduate Institute to help train the next generation of
sustainable business leaders, with the remaining 3% allocated
to charities of the employee’s choosing.
